DeVaughn Pearson

DeVaughn Pearson is a Rapid City native. He owns and operates his own rental property business. He also works as a research assistant for South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, where he is a Junior Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management student.

DeVaughn continues to be a vested member of the Native American community, by volunteering for organizations that aim to improve the quality of life for Native Americans on and off the reservations. He teaches financial literacy through his volunteer work with Lakota Funds. He also volunteers for South Dakota Native Home Ownership Coalition, an organization whose goal is to increase homeownership on the reservation.

DeVaughn believes that the work that Mniluzahan Okolakiciyapi Ambassadors is doing is critical, because the Native American population is an important part of the city’s history and will continue to be important to the city in the future.

“Healing the Native American community from things that happened in the past and creating understanding of the culture, will help continue to move relations forward. Mniluzahan Okolakiciyapi Ambassadors’ work is a strong step in the right direction.”
