Dr. Lori Simon
Dr. Lori Simon has served as the Superintendent of the Rapid City Area Schools since 2016. Lori was born in Rochester, MN and raised in Spring Valley, MN. She and her husband, Gary, have two adult sons – Michael and Nicholas, and three grandchildren – Apollo, Helios, and Artemis.
Lori’s community service work includes sitting on the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Rapid City Economic Development Board of Directors as an Ex-Officio member. She also serves on the WAVI Board of Directors and has previously served on the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors.
Lori is committed to improving her community and the educational experience for all RCAS students. She brings years of experience working with diverse cultures from her tenure in the Saint Paul Public Schools and the Robbinsdale Area Schools in the Twin Cities metro area. She seeks to build strong relationships with the Native community and has made it a priority to integrate Lakota language, history, and culture in the Rapid City Area Schools curriculum.
